Our teens learn all about trees and related careers while earning a stipend and working as part of a team.

Teen Tree Corp

Teens grow strong with our trees!

Each school year, ReLeaf accepts 10-12 teens, aged 14-18, into our Teen Tree Corps. The teens are recruited by Petaluma Peoples’ Service Center, and face profound challenges in their lives. The teens get 2 sessions of training about trees using field learning experiences, and then work as a team at our planting events. They work with a 3-person ReLeaf volunteer team consisting of an arborist, and two educators.

First they learn to plant trees the right way, and assist with related tasks such as watering and clean up. Then they progress to performing quality control checks on the planting work of other volunteers. At the lunch break they have a speaker about careers in green industries. At the end of the planting season, there is a combination social meeting and reflection on the experiences.
