Bellville Ranch Project
The Bellville Ranch Project began in December 2020, to address the lack of biodiversity and flooding that takes place in very wet years. We wanted to plant out the riparian area with trees that would grow quickly in that habitat and would also absorb the high water table in the front of the property, to reduce flooding. At this point we have planted 35 Native California Buckeye (Aesculus california), trees and in the fall of 2021, we will go back to plant Coast Live Oak (Quercus agrifolia) and Red Willow (Salix Laevigata). ReLeaf Petaluma believes our work on this ranch, partnering with its owner, will create an example and inspiration for the plethora of farms and ranches that encapsulate our city. This will help realize our vision of native tree habitat throughout our watershed, as well as reduce green house gases.
